Worth pointing out though that the briefing at this point is only to the NCOs... not to the whole group.

The other players will be deployed to hold the field.

sorry... no had this argument with gadge already and I don't want to do it again. It got heated to say the least.

We're doing it his way this time.

There are good reasons.

Well, we'll just have to convince him otherwise as that's what we agreed at the site visit . He can play Major up the top , doing on the LZ would be pants.

Quality of experience for players counts more than hisotrical accuracy IMHO .

Please don't ... just leave be... we won't have time for an argument.

It will work fine, don't worry.

I'm not worrying , I need to be convinced by the overpowering reasons for what appears to be a poor idea IM&theStbfsHO

Anyway , I agree -no point arguing here, we can discuss on Saturday on site . :D

(I'll be the one with the Feldgrau handbag !)

Gadge probably won't be there on Saturday...

I can't remember all the reasons and don't want to discuss it.

You'll have to ring him for a chat!

Equally trust me to this one

I know what im doing and want to do it this way for a lot of good reasons.

Its all to do with some good sound educational experience relating to information, group size and understanding

Its also 100 per cent more accurate and will build spirit in the allied side.

The way im doing it puts more ownership on NCOS.

As Yith said wee've discussed this to death and its really too late to be fucking about with the plans now to be honest.

Troops get general brief before embarkation, they then get a gorund brief form their ncos on the gorund after the LZ is secured. Then they move onto the objectives.

I *really* dont want to go over htis again, if im asked to write the briefingand oc the allies please let me do it my way, it wont affect the game in the slightest but will make for a better player experience.

LOL!

Methinks you need to be giving them a bit of harrasment as soon as they start landing then Guy - your chaps are just going to be sitting watching 'em chat otherwise! Got to make it slightly awkward for them to get to their rally point surely!

Apparently we'll see gadge on saturday night... so we can discuss this...

But ffs lets be civil (I know, I'm a right hypocrit ;) ) we'll have punters there watching...

To be honest though... I think we should go 100% with gadge's idea...

Remember that I was 100% against his idea before he managed to persuade me. However that persuading was not pleasant! We had a right argument... I'd prefer not to repeat that thanks!

There isn't an arguement, no-one is changing what Gadge has written.

You can do what you like with NCO as stuff BUT
Guy and I are pointing out you will have German troops just sitting there watching you getting ready at the landing zone which is boring and unrealistic! At what point are you going to let them engage you, when YOU are ready or when WE are ready (which is realistist, if realism is what you want!)?

if they form up on the landing zone then they wont be in range to be enagaged plus there should only be one or two sentries about if the garrison is dpeloyed as we discussed.

They'd be mad to attack 30 players

It'll take three minsst ops to form up and move out, probably less, remember thess dont get the 'move out' until the firefight starts.

Can I suggest that you make sure that all german troops are out of line of sight of the landing zone at the start of the game. Or if not possible have them considerably out of range.

That was the general idea as to get attacked as soon as they landed would be incorrect tactically and historically.

The chat will only be between the officers and the NCOs, the rest of the British troops will be deployed around the landing zone waiting for the go ahead.

As is supposed to happen.

SS troops are in the safe waiting for the alarm

the whermact are in building wiht one or two patrolling....

One the allies get to the trian station the firefight shuld kick off.

We have all day and I'm expecting a steady progress not ., lets dive in guns blazing fomr the word go.

Any germamsn spoting the invasion should be under orders to report it to Model.

I'll put that in the garrison ground brief once its done

On the other habd if the whermacht want to attack 30 paras dug in oin twos and ones in the first five mins of the game then they are sucicidally welcome.

Note that the german maps do not have the landing zone marked on them...

The idea is that the germans don't know where we are going to arrive!

When you deploy your troops... don't deploy near it!

Right this is all i really want to say on this right now

I still have to write the overall game brief for all factions (very short 45 seconds probably)

And the finsih th egorund briefs for whermach and SS

I *cant* do this if were arguing about minor things on the forum, im happy to debate this saturday night when were all around a lantern but can we please leave this one so i can stay in a mood condusive to creativity?

Will it be your special lantern?

I wasn't planning on bringing one...

Indeed, the Germans will be dug in and mostly hidden out out of view which is why a long wait while Allies are ferried in by relays, troops rallied and NCO's give orders will be very boring.

No Germans will be able to shoot into the LZ obviously - many WILL be watching your arrival as you will have to pass right by us. But if you want realism I might point out that you landed right on top of us - many pictures of Germans shooting Allies as they dropped :P .

Later on maybe... but not at the start of the battle? The initial landings would be pretty clear of germans.

BTW... I'm planning on being "in uniform" for the get together on saturday night...

I'm not wearing it for the setting up mind you!

An o group take s minutes maximum, it wont be a long wait.

Even if i dont do the brief on the gorund (whihc it has to be to point out objectives in a understandable way) then we'd take as long as were not going to just charge forwards in waves, the whole point should be suspense of when the storm breaks.

Honestly can we plaease not get inot this now im losing the wil to live arguing over this .... :)

Basically when we all get to the lz the troops fomr a semi circle, i call in the ncos
i read them the allied gorund brief and point out their iobjectives (all of 2 minutes i reckon)

The ncos run to their sections and explain the section speciifc target to their eight men

(all of one minute)

I call move out .

Three to five miunutes tops

Adds a lot to the feel of the game.
